On a mission to make and grow disciples

Getting Started

Posted by Alan Mcknight on February 26, 2015

So it’s been just over six weeks since we packed up life as we knew it in Liverpool moving to our new life in Glasgow. We were full of fear and uncertainty. But something we have been reminded of is that God is ALWAYS good and is sovereign. Recently reading Revelation 7 reminded me that we have an eternity altogether that is coming soon, both Liverpool and Glasgow family at the throne of God and that is our home.
To say that these six weeks have been amazing would be an understatement. God blessed us massively in the run up to the move and we have felt so settled. Phoebe and Joel are in in their new school and making friends. Caleb is (slowly) settling into nursery. Sarah is enjoying spending time with some of the women in Harper and is looking forward to building deeper relationships.

It’s been so exciting to see what God is doing here in Harper. The fact that every Sunday there have been new people just walking through the door is incredible and we can only give Glory to God for this. We trust knowing HE is building His Kingdom.

In my new role I have been blown away at what God has been doing. The open door at Lorne street Primary has passed all our expectations. I have been in a few assemblies, am helping with RE lessons, starting a weekly Bible club after Easter, met with the parent council and many other possibilities are available. We praise God for relationships that are being built there and also in Bellahouston Accademy.

This period has been one of getting to know the kids (Weans), youth and their leaders, which has been boss (Great). I am excited at the next steps and remembering Revelation 7, trusting that many kids and young people who come through these doors will be standing with us Saying “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.”
